Sustainability Victoria offering new funding to inspire low-waste communities

New funding is available for Victorian councils and community organisations to develop local solutions that tackle waste.

The Recycling Victoria Communities Fund provides more than $5.4 million over four years for social enterprises, not for profits and community organisations to collaborate and explore smarter ways of using resources and materials in their local area.

Funded organisations will receive grants of between $25,000 and $250,000 for projects to increase reuse, repair and share opportunities in their communities, with the goal of minimising litter, illegal dumping and waste to landfill.

Applications close 19 March 2021. For further information click here.

The Recycling Victoria Councils Fund provides almost $6 million over four years to the 79 Victorian councils and four alpine resort management boards to establish tailored local and regional circular economy projects.

Funded councils will receive grants of up to $500,000 to develop and implement impactful and locally relevant waste solutions. Projects will focus on reducing the amount of waste going to landfill or increasing the volume of materials reused, repaired, repurposed or recycled.

These grants delivered under the Victorian Government’s Recycling Victoria policy are worth more than $11 million. They will support charities, social enterprises, community groups and councils to develop grassroots local solutions for waste avoidance, repair and reuse of goods, and correct recycling of materials.
