New Victorian Waste Act and Waste Authority – a proposed model

To address the issues in the recycling sector and to move towards a more circular economy, the Victorian Government released Recycling Victoria: A new economy in February this year. As part of the policy, the Victorian Government committed to developing a new waste and recycling Act and establishing a waste authority by 2021. It published an options paper on Saturday 12 September 2020 which proposes a model for the waste Act and authority.

Consultation on the proposal has commenced and will conclude on 9 October 2020.

Two Q and A sessions will be held during the consultation period and are open to all interested stakeholders. Sessions will be held on:

  • Wednesday 23 September 1:00 – 2:00 pm;
  • Wednesday 23 September 3:00 – 4:00pm;
  • Monday 28 September 1:00 – 2:00 pm and
  • Monday 28 September 3:30 – 4:30 pm

The sessions will be held via video conferencing on Microsoft Teams.
