Mapping our way to a circular economy

Reducing waste and litter can be a serious challenge. That’s why Barwon South West Waste and Resource Recovery Group together with our partner councils, are building a Zero Waste Map for the region map.reduce-recycle.com.au.

The map will support the circular economy by connecting the community with local organisations providing goods and services that reduce the amount of materials going to landfill. You can search the map by council area as well as by the following eight categories:

  • Recycle – for registering all the collection points for anything that can be recycled
  • Repair organisations that offer repair services
  • Donate – for organisations that accept donations of materials for re-use such as op-shops and tip-shops
  • Borrow, Share and Hire – for services such as toy libraries and items for hire businesses
  • Shop for Items – organisations that sell pre-loved items, alternatives to common single use items, items made from recycled materials and unpackaged goods
  • Find Services organisations that offer low to zero waste services, such as printers or motor mechanics that recycle all their waste, Sustainable Salons and Responsible Cafes
  • Connect to Community for organisations that help connect individuals to low waste living such as litter, sustainability and War on Waste groups
  • Learn To for all those organisations that teach low waste skills such as how to repair or upcycle clothing, worm farming, composting or growing your own food

Map registration is free of charge and is now open for organisations operating within the Barwon South West region. Organisations including charities, community groups, social enterprises, cooperatives, companies, private businesses and government agencies are welcome to register.

Many organisations will fit into more than one category and that’s great! When you register your organisation, select all the relevant categories to help people find you.

You can help us build the map by registering today at map.reduce-recycle.com.au (Note: there is no www at the start of this address)
